Dummies @ Work

I vowed not to raise my voice if possible.

I vowed not to show the ugly side of me if not required.

But tell me !

How is that possible when I need to review a simple work for a couple of times ?!

How is that possible when what I said turned into deaf ears ?!

How is that possible when people don’t follow simple instructions and deadlines ?!

When things are not moving, who are you gonna call ? Ghostr@ider ?

It is so frustrating, annoying and madness !~!

Dumb @ss !! !@#$%^&*

Sigh. Another one of those stupid days.

12 more hours to go !

12 more hours !

That’s all it takes ! Can’t wait for the sleepless nights, the long hours and the mad rush to be over.

Not forgetting the frustration of having some of the smarter people asking some of the most silliest questions.

Tension ! And all because of what ? They had to fork out money instead of receiving it. Money really shows the true characters of a person.

They dont appreciate the efforts one put in. Instead, they just think about themselves ! Their selfishness can some times be so intolerable compared to their smartness. Or is it because they are too smart ?

Sigh ! It’s like everyone owes them. If only the comments they wrote can be shown !

Nevertheless, 12 more hours and it’s the end of such madness. Wouldnt say that it’s totally ended but one can sigh a huge relief. 80% at least !

Then, it will be back to the drawing board again when new ideas, planning and people have to be planted. It’s a never-ending story ! But what can one do ?! Work goes on !

Though this time around, things improved but still, there is much room to improve and a new team is gonna be born after this. Hopefully it will last this time. Otherwise, things will be screwed up like before. TOUCH WOOD ! Have vowed not to let it happen again !!

Sigh…

It is expected that things will change after this or at least hope for the better. finger crossed.

We shall see….

Now, back to work for the final touch ! Then, it will be over and cant wait to be back out there with a life ! It has been so long to have actually seen the outside world and feel the fresh air around it instead of the same four walls every single day.

Disappointing 1st Day

Monday …

The first day of work after a week’s break for the lunar year. And what a day it was !

It was havoc ! It was expected that there will be many things to clear and the office server has decided to reject the emails arriving into the mailbox because the quota is FULL ! Dang ! Its not as if the emails were rejected meant lesser work, but it meant more things to do and at a faster speed ! And to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Pui !~!

And the server got cranky as well ! It decided to has the mind of it’s own as if having a Monday blues after a week of rest. The connection was bad. Suddenly it was connected then off it goes again. This complicate the matters as some emails were urgently need to be addressed.

Plus the fact that the month end filing was approaching, the client being fussy about some minor errors and yet was still gonna be on leave. Sigh .. what a sight. So many urgent folders to attend.

But what got me annoyed and frustrated was not until I found out that a crucial point which we missed out in the list of queries to be asked. And this was pointed out with a client !

It can be a minor matter of informing the clients about it. But, we are talking about 200 clients here ! Apart from that, it has been emphasized that all pointers are to be checked thoroughly but yet again, oopss .. sorry, overlooked ! Come on ! I know I am partly to be blamed for not scrutinizing it but you cant be expecting me to look into everything in detailed right ? Then might as well me doing it. And the work done was by two of the more senior people on the team ! So, it was really disappointing !

You cant be expecting that I send an update response to all the clients saying .. “oopss .. sorry for overlook” right ? It is such an embarassment and reputation would be gone. I meant, clients are pending for you for updates and yet you made a mistake on that … What if it cause us to lose that account ? That will be a big trouble having seen and reminded that we cant afford to lose the account.

This time around, made sure that they really got it from me. It was tougher and harsher this time around. And the juniors were made known. I hold them responsible and would not concur to their proposed remedy action. It is up to them and yet being the third day today, they dont seems to understand simple language that they are responsible and I would not agree or concur to their action. Let is be a lesson to them … cant let them always continue being that way … just like Britney’s made famous song, Oopss I did it again ! can i ?

Nevertheless, being the team lead, I have no choice but to hold responsible for it. Sigh …

Looks like the next two months would be the same again as previous years. Thought that it is well improved and we are just being to bear fruits for the efforts we have made for the past year. Thought that this year will be a better year after going through a disasterous filing year 2009 which I vowed not to repeat again.

I need to prove a point ! Damn !

Oh well. Look forward to sweat it out later.

8th January 2009 ~ 1st Anniversary

8th January 2009 marked the first anniversary of me joining a new firm. What do you expect ? Wedding ? Relationship ? Plz ….

It may be just another ordinary in work life …. But I though I should write something about it !

Time passes quickly and I am already in the current firm for a year. Reflecting back the 365 days spent in the company, much has happened. The ups, down, left, right … it was no doubt a total new experience. This firm is nothing like the former company. They are a bunch of young, dynamic, intelligent entrepreneurs … my bosses and friends … have known them since my former company but not that close. But they are up and coming rising starz. The feeling they have been portraying are rather warmth , easy going and treats the employees well. Do you come across where most of the lunches are paid by your boss ? The company trip ? The welfare etc ? But at times, it felt like people are taking advantage of it !

Remember somewhere it early 2008 when they approached me to join them. However, looking at the peak period and the faces of my ex-staffs, I rejected them in a way … smirk… :) Yet again, when I tendered my resignation in last quarter of 2008, they heard about it and immediately offered me. This time, insisting that I were “to get back” to them …. He he ..contradicts to what others had to say … i.e me leaving the firm for them … which can be frustrating as well ! But what to do, just have to live with it.

With a crew cut hair and not knowing what I am being lured into, I stepped into the office at 9.30am as I was told on 08.01.2009. The bosses were not there. But the staffs were expecting me ! Some people must just mention to them. Sitting me at my partition, I looked at the notebook, stationeries and namecard which were all prepared. Caught me by surprise tho … but nothing bad to comment. The next few days were spend familiarising with the environment and portfolios … so there I was .. the start of a new beginning.

To tell what has going on for the past one year would probably takes up a long time … hopefully, it won’t take up another year :) to write about it.

Another thing which I felt was that at times, I still do miss my old firm ! don’t have to blink your eyes … nope .. am not referring to the firm (as in THE firm) but rather the times while working there ! The good times, the bad times, the proud and satisfying moments, long nights, the friends I have made etc … so much going on at that time. The fun, humour, challenges, friendship … all of it ! yeah .. say I am crazy that after spending 7 years there and I still miss it …

One day … maybe just one day when the mood arrives, shall tell …

Back to Work !~!

Back to working LIFE !!

Was out of office from 25th December 2008 to 5th January 2009 and had actually planned to do some rest, running some errands, planning for deadlines and vacations and visiting before a foreseeable hectic schedules… And … as usual, the plan didn’t work out !

On Christmas Day, was driving back home to attend grandma’s 80th birthday after some sober sleep. Something which was unavoidable. No matter how dislike it is to meet up with uncles, aunties and cousins who treat you like you owe them somethings or their constant bragging and selfishness or even the running around of nieces and nephews as if they were not brought up with good manner whilst their parents were enjoying their food (kids nowadays) , it is still respectful to be there. Grandma has always been one of the most respected and loved person close to the heart. Someone who adores and is adored no matter what some relatives may be saying. After the gathering, went to grab a drink with sibling. Seldom had the chance and it was nice. Then it was back to the sack.

Boxing day was spend hanging around and was kinda bored except online and checking some work. Was up in KL on 27-29. Parents had a wedding dinner and a function to attend. So, being the host, accompany them around for food and some shopping. Not forgetting the time spend waiting for them to finish the dinner and trying to find the venue for the function. Didnt really had much rest. It was back to back so as to speak.

Was back home on 29th and spend the next 2 days doing nothing. Practically, woke up, online, lunch, online, dinner, online and sleep. That was the daily routine except for spending some time running errands and loitering in friend’s shop. No wonder it is always known as the season for gaining weight. Bored and exhausted cos of the late nights. Was it mentioned that a friend invited to place where hair saloon was not a hair saloon ? Apart from that, the unexpected event was the departure of a friend’s dad. It was rather sudden so paid him visit to him. Though hate the idea of attending funerals or rather ‘pantang’ with it, it was still out of compassionate.

New year’s eve/new year celebration was spend at a mamak with some close friends chatting about the good old days before heading to JB. Met up a uni friend and had a long chat on new year’s day. Unlike in KL, it is a working day in Johor. One needs to get used to at first. The next two days were spent doing nothing except lazing around and do some surfing.

Was back at home on 3rd Jan 2009 to attend a friend’s wedding on 4th Jan 2009. The funny thing was, he sent an invitation via facebook stating the date of his wedding dinner but without a venue or time earlier. It was kinda funny but that’s what this bunch of friends are. They don’t plan till time is nearing. They are rather impromptu. Somethings which one got fed up at times.

The next day ? The long drive back to KL. Upon touch down only, was asked to meet a friend. Sigh … nothing done except having a migraine.

At the end of the leave, tired, exhausted and not getting any productve things that were initially planned done (except for some office work). Is this what it is termed as ? workaholic ?

Sigh .. after dragging out of the bed in the morning and stucked in the stupeed jam, trying to stay focus for the whole day with so many things on hand ! That’s when realised that had to smack out of days off and back to reality ! It’s 11pm now and still in the office ! One probably ask why ! Nothing like home sweet home. :)

Nevertheless, it is a relief to be back to the usual familiar sight. Work … LOL :)
